I sometimes wonder whether toy kitchens are good or not. I would much rather let my children help me in the real kitchen so they learn how to prepare real food rather than plastic stuff. However, I see them playing with the toy kitchen at school, putting things in the oven, pretending to chop things, cook things and make cups of tea and I realise that they cannot do any of those things at home as they are too young. They might be learning a lot more by pretending to do those things which they are not allowed to do at home. Perhaps I should see how much a kidcraft kitchen is and then decide whether it will be worth – while. If it is not too expensive then it might be well worth getting them one so that they can have a lot of fun with it and learn from it as well. Perhaps when they are old enough to use the real one they might not even need any teaching – they might just turn out to be the best chefs ever! I am sure that will not happen but if it gives them lots of fun then it could be worth it.
